Inktober – Octopus Legs – Day 01 (21st of 31)

So I’ve been sucking at posting things online since my work schedule changed and while it sucks in terms of posting things online. It also sucks because it was my way of relaxing at the end of the night which has left me a semi-stressful mess of a person. Who knew? After figuring out the problem and trying to at least get one video out a week thinking this would remedy the situation. I’ve realized sometimes you just gotta take what you’ve been handed and make it work.

I learned about something called Inkober a few days ago, where artists from all over the world participate in a drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month and while the month is almost over with. I thought HECK! This is my way of sucking the creativity back in. I’ve had a lot of people messaging me on Twitter and YouTube asking how come I don’t draw anymore? And the more this question got asked, the more I wanted to draw you could say. So to remedy the fact that I’m horrible at making videos because my work/project load is gigantic, I decided to record time-lapses of my Inktober drawings and kill two birds with one stone.

Inktober - 2014 - October 21 - Octopus Legs

After one drawing was completed, I guess you could say I can’t wait to finish up the notebook I have. Below you will find the video I posted on YouTube featuring a timelapse of said doodle.

The drawing itself took about 20 minutes to make I found myself not wanting to stop with one drawing so I doodled until I felt like I had nothing left to put on paper. I honestly didn’t know what I was drawing until it was almost over. I thought about making a new species of alien but instead I wound up with a octopus of some kind.

I’ve forgotten how good it feels sometimes to get lost in a song and doodle my cares away. How do you deal with stress? Let me know in the comments below.
