Dr. Dre’s Beats by Dre cost $14 to Make….interesting enough, TIME magazine did an article, 18 Headphone Brands Ranked from Worst to First detailing the worst to the best headphones out there on the market and Dr. Dre’s Beats didn’t go far.  I’ve been fascinated by Beats since they began selling in 2008 as an alternative to the lightweight earbuds that Apple included free with it’s iPods and iPhones starting a wave of headphones as a fashion statement. But I never purchased a pair because I truly questioned the sound quality and after reading TIME’s article, Dr. Dre’s Beats by Dre are the second to worst headphone brand out of 18 in terms of sound performance. While I won’t deny the marketing genius behind the headphones, it’s no wonder that Dr. Dre is rich considering Beats headphones only cost 14 dollars to make.

Apple purchased the company for 3.2 million dollars last year, and while Apple is known for buying up companies for their technology and talent to help develop future products I imagined their interest is either in the hardware or the service itself considering they’ve kind of flopped in the market of creating new products with the Apple Watch. But I’m curious to hear from consumers who actually swear by Beats, I recently did a video on my YouTube channel talking about the headphones and whether or not they’re worth the pricetag and seeing as I do not own a pair I thought I would ask around before even taking the plunge.

Dr. Dre’s Beats Headphones Worth it & Other Tangents

But after reading that Beats Headphones promote deafness, I think I’ll be saving my pennies and just going for cheap. But I’d still love to hear from those of you who actually own a pair and enjoy them, leave a comment on my video or blog post below!
