Watch and Review Horror Movie The Boy (2016)
This past week, we decided to watch and review the horror movie The Boy (2016). Don’t get met wrong I really enjoy a good horror movie, you know the kind…that can take you beyond your own imagination and into the world of the supernatural and believing anything presented in your wake. Unfortunately, horror movie The Boy (2016) did not do a good job and while I was hopeful, I should of known better considering it featured a doll.
Recently, there have been quite a number films featuring dolls including one from last year featuring the original bad ass Chucky from Child’s Play with Cult of Chucky that had peaked my interest. And I kind of got stoked thinking we had ventured back to the days of possessed dolls like Puppet Master with movies such as Annabelle and The Conjouring to name just a few. Like most doll related films, while the horror movie The Boy (2016) gave me high hopes especially after the movie trailer gave nothing away and left a lot to the imagination including the creepy vibes revolving around the parents, or the grocery boy.The film had a familiar vibe and aesthetic to M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit upon first glance of the movie trailer.
Review Of Horror Movie The Boy (2016)
Unfortunately after watching the horror movie The Boy (2016) like the movie The Visit it does not live up to the hype surrounding it and if you were hoping for possessed dolls, you will surely be disappointed that is unless you like a reboot of the People Under the Stairs…only the creature is not friendly or helpful and instead wants to kill you for not following the rules.
If there is a part 2 of the horror movie The Boy (2016), I hope they go back into the past revealing what exactly happened to the little girl and what led Brahms on this vengeful path. There are genuinely too many unanswered questions for my liking that sure one can speculate, but I’d rather not. My biggest gripe is the time suck, the majority of the action takes place in the last 30 minutes towards the end of the film and leaves you wanting more. I think if they would of set up the scenes faster and delved further into the dead nannies or allowed for the parents to get a little bit more scene time there would of been a lot more food for thought to ponder when it comes to this scary movie.
The horror movie The Boy itself, leaves a lot to be desired and a great deal of unanswered questions that lead the viewer to question and speculate what the whole story is which leads me to believe this movie will undoubtedly, have a part 2 considering the end leaves you thinking Brahms never died.
While the horror movie The Boy (2016), did a great job of leaving your in the dark and left A LOT of mysteries.I do not think it deserves the watch time, and cannot believe people actually paid good money to see 30 minutes of action in play. I give this movie 2.5 out of 10 stars, while it was cool in theory it sucked all the way to the end and left more questions than answers solved.
Let me know in the comments did you enjoy the horror movie The Boy (2016) and if so, why or why not?
